Proper handwashing can prevent the spread of foodborne illness!
- Use warm water and plain soap (antibacterial soap can lead to antibiotic resistance--for more information click here)
- Rub your hands together for at least 30 seconds (long enough to sing the "Happy Birthday" song twice)
- Pay particular attention to your fingernails and the spaces between your fingers
- Rinse for at least 10 seconds with the water running downward from your wrists to your fingers
- Dry your hands thoroughly with a clean towel, or paper towel.
